Attorney-review notice: This is a working privacy policy prepared in plain language by the founder. It is not a substitute for legal advice and does not reflect attorney review. Before relying on this for compliance in any jurisdiction, please consult a qualified attorney — particularly if you expect visitors from the EU, UK, or other jurisdictions with data protection regulations.
Introduction
TalkinQuantum is a website where you can learn quantum computing, experiment with quantum circuits, and get help from Quanta, an AI guide. When you use TalkinQuantum, we collect some information about you in order to make the product work. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and who we share it with.
We try to keep this short and honest. If something is unclear, email us at support@talkinquantum.com.

What Data We May Collect
1. Account Data
If you create an account, we collect:
- Your email address
- The username you choose
- The password you set (stored securely via Supabase; we do not store it in plain text)
- The skill level you select during onboarding (Beginner, Intermediate, or Expert)
- The user type you identify as during onboarding (Student, Engineer, or Explorer)
- Your subscription plan status (Guest, Free, or Pro)
- Your Stripe customer ID (if you subscribe to Pro — used to manage your billing)
2. Learning Progress, Quiz Results, and XP Data
If you use the Learn tab, we may store:
- Which lessons you have completed
- Which section quizzes you have passed
- Your XP (experience points) total and level
- Your most recently active lesson
This data is stored locally in your browser (in localStorage) and, if you are signed in, synced to your account in Supabase so your progress is preserved across devices. Guest users' progress is stored in their browser only and is not sent to our servers.
3. AI Chat and Quanta Interaction Data
TalkinQuantum includes Quanta, an AI learning guide powered by Claude (from Anthropic). When you send a message to Quanta:
- Your message is sent to our server and then to Anthropic's API to generate a response
- Your current lesson context (which lesson you are on) may be included in the request to help Quanta give relevant answers
- Quanta chat messages are processed transiently to generate responses and are not intentionally stored on TalkinQuantum's servers long-term. Service providers (Anthropic for AI processing, Netlify for hosting) may process temporary infrastructure logs in the normal course of operations.
We use your Quanta interactions to provide AI responses in real time. We do not use your private Quanta conversations to train AI models.
4. Payments and Stripe
If you subscribe to TalkinQuantum Pro ($19/month), your payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full credit card number, card security code, or bank account details. Stripe gives us:
- Confirmation that a payment was completed
- A Stripe customer ID associated with your account
- Your subscription status
Stripe's own privacy policy governs how Stripe handles your payment information. You can find it at stripe.com/privacy.
5. Authentication and Supabase
TalkinQuantum uses Supabase for user authentication and account data storage. When you sign up or sign in:
- Your authentication credentials are handled by Supabase
- Account data (email, username, plan, progress) is stored in Supabase databases
- Supabase's own privacy policy governs their data handling
Your account data is stored in a Supabase project operated on your behalf. Supabase stores data on infrastructure that may be located in the United States.
6. Cookies, localStorage, and Session Data
TalkinQuantum uses your browser's localStorage (not traditional cookies) to store:
- Your session state (whether you are signed in)
- Your skill level, user type, and learning mode preferences
- Your workspace state (open files, circuit layout)
- Your learning progress and XP (for guest users who are not signed in)
- Your onboarding completion status
- App interface preferences (panel sizes, sidebar state)
This data stays in your browser. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's local storage. It does not expire automatically unless you clear it.
We may also use short-lived session tokens managed by Supabase for authentication. These are stored in your browser's local storage (not as cookies).
7. Analytics
TalkinQuantum uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand site traffic and product usage. Cloudflare Web Analytics collects aggregated, anonymized data about page views and visitor interactions. It does not use cookies, does not track individual users across sites, and does not sell data to third parties. We do not use Google Analytics or Plausible Analytics.
The Cloudflare Web Analytics script loads from static.cloudflareinsights.com and sends aggregated usage data to Cloudflare. Cloudflare's privacy policy governs how they handle this data: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
8. Email
TalkinQuantum collects email addresses voluntarily — only when you explicitly submit your email via the landing page form or the in-app capture flow. We use Brevo as our email service provider.
If you sign up:
- Your email address is shared with Brevo and added to the TalkinQuantum launch list
- We use it to send product updates, learning tips, and launch announcements
- Every email includes an unsubscribe link
- Signing up is entirely voluntary — you can use TalkinQuantum without providing your email
How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect to:
- Run the product — deliver lessons, run your circuit simulations, and route your messages to Quanta
- Personalize your experience — show content appropriate to your skill level, user type, and progress
- Manage your account and subscription — let you sign in, track your Pro status, and manage billing through Stripe
- Sync your learning progress — preserve your quiz completions, XP, and lesson history across devices when you are signed in
- Improve the product — understand which features are being used (once analytics are installed; see section 7 above)
- Communicate with you — send essential account emails (password reset, email verification) and, once implemented, optional product updates
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.

Children and Minors
TalkinQuantum is not intended for children under 13. Users between the ages of 13 and 17 must have permission from a parent or guardian to use TalkinQuantum. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have received information from a minor under 13, please contact us at support@talkinquantum.com and we will delete it promptly.
International Visitors
TalkinQuantum is operated from the United States. Our infrastructure providers (Supabase, Stripe) may store data in the United States or other jurisdictions.
TalkinQuantum is not actively targeted at users in the European Union or United Kingdom at this time. If you are visiting from the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, please be aware that your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may not have equivalent data protection laws. By using TalkinQuantum, you acknowledge this transfer.
Attorney-review note: If the audience expands to actively include EU or UK users, additional GDPR/UK GDPR compliance steps will be required, including identifying a legal basis for processing, updating this notice, and potentially designating an EU/UK representative.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data:
- Authentication is handled by Supabase, which uses industry-standard security practices
- Subscription entitlement (Pro status) is stored server-side in a location that cannot be modified by users through the browser
- We use HTTPS for all connections
- We do not store payment card numbers or security codes
- Your password is stored by Supabase using secure hashing; we do not have access to it in plain text
No system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please email us immediately at support@talkinquantum.com.
